At a time when the number of suspected patients of swine flu is on rise, the availability of the fresh stock of anti-flu medicines with the authorised medical store owners has come as a relief to the city.

KANPUR: At a time when the number of suspected patients of swine flu is on rise, the availability of the fresh stock of anti-flu medicines with the authorised medical store owners has come as a relief to the city.
Around 300 anti-flu tablets have been made available; however, the stock is not too much keeping in view the rise in the number of suspected swine flu patients in the city.
It is to be noted here that the stock of medicine for swine flu with the selected medical stores had depleted. Drug inspector Manoj Gupta said that the anti-flu medicine, ‘Tamiflu’ have been procured by a city based retailer for schedule X medicines and the medicine is now available at the authorized stores.
He said in view of the urgency the medicine was received in Lucknow via air courier from Bombay. “The efforts are going on to procure more medicine stock so that there is no dearth. Another company manufacturing medicine for swine flu has agreed to provide another lot of drugs by February 19,” said the official.
The official said that the current stock of medicines will solve the problem.
Assistant chief medical officer, Dr Arvind Yadav said that the medicine stock was available with the government hospitals. He added that if needed then fresh stock will be procured.
