MATT: GOOD MORNING. THIS NEW INITIATIVE IS A WAY OF BRINGING CORONAVIRUS TESTING AND EDUCATION TO PEOPLE WHO MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE HAVE MEANS TO GET TESTING ON THEIR OWN. IT’S FREE AND DOES NOT REQUIRE INSURANCE. THE INITIATIVE GOES BY THE NAME COMMUNITY ACCESSIBLE TESTING AND EDUCATION, OR THE ACRONYM CATE FOR SHORT. IT’S A PARTNERSHIP AMONG PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, HIGHMARK, AND LATINO CONNECTION. THE MOBILE UNIT, WHICH IS A CONVERTED RV, WILL BE DRIVING TO PARTS OF PENNSYLVANIA TO SPECIFICALLY SERVE LOW INCOME AND VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES. THE VIRUS TESTING WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS OF THE CORONAVIRUS AS WELL AS PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE VIRUS. HERE ARE SOME OF THE UPCOMING STOPS IN THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY INCLUDING THE YORK CITY YMCA TOMORROW FROM 11:00 TO 3:00. THE SHREWSBERRY YMCA ON THURSDAY, AND THE LANCASTER CITY Y O FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, ALL BETWEEN 11:00 AND 3:00.

Pennsylvania is using a converted RV as a mobile lab to increase coronavirus testing in more parts of the commonwealth.The program is called "Community Accessible Testing and Education” or CATE. It's a partnership among the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Highmark, and Latino Connection. The mobile unit, which is a converted RV, will be driving to parts of Pennsylvania to specifically serve low-income and vulnerable communities.The virus testing will be available for people who are experiencing symptoms like fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, as well as people who've been exposed to the coronavirus.Testing is free and does not require insurance.The mobile testing unit will be at the York City YMCA on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.You can see a full schedule for CATE here.
