All-American midfielder becomes the fifth Badger drafted into U.S. professional soccer league

MADISON, Wis. -- Former Wisconsin women's soccer standout Victoria Pickett was selected 15th overall by Kansas City in the 2021 National Women's Soccer League Draft on Wednesday night.

A first-team All-American in 2018, Pickett is the fifth Badger to be drafted into the NWSL. In addition, it marks the second-straight year a Badger has been drafted in the top-16 picks as Camryn Biegalski was picked 16th last year by the Chicago Red Stars.

"We are very excited and proud for Victoria to be drafted by Kansas City," UW head coach Paula Wilkins said. "She has had an incredible career at Wisconsin for our soccer program, and we know she is prepared to have a successful professional soccer career. We are thrilled to watch her successes and wish her all the luck from the Badger soccer family."

The two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection collected five goals and 11 assists during three seasons playing for the Cardinal and White.

The midfielder led UW to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2018, a season in which she was named a semifinalist for the Mac Hermann Award, a first-team All-American and a first-team Big Ten Conference selection.

During the 2017 season, the Barrie, Ontario, native earned first-team All-Big Ten accolades after posting two goals and three assists.

Pickett made her mark her freshman year, as she was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was a second-team All-Big Ten selection after scoring two goals and tallying four assists.

She also has vast experience playing for Team Canada as she was named to Canada's CONCACAF Championship U-20 team in 2015 and also played for Canada at the 2015 Pan-American Games.
