Coronavirus: University of Massachusetts Amherst dining employee self-quarantining after possible COVID-19 exposure

A University of Massachusetts Amherst dining employee is self-quarantining this week after coming into proximity with a possible coronavirus patient.

The worker was informed Wednesday that she may have may have been exposed to the viral respiratory infection after visiting a bank where an employee who has symptoms potentially related to COVID-19 was working. The person has not been tested, according to a statement from the university.

“Out of an abundance of caution, that Dining Services employee left work immediately and is self-quarantining,” the statement said.

UMass did not release the name of the bank the employee visited nor when she came into contact with the potential coronavirus patient.

“All employees have been told If you are sick, no matter the illness, to stay home. Dining has strongly emphasized this,” the university said in a statement.
