WARREN — Express car wash chain, ModWash, operating now in seven states, is expanding into Ohio and into the Mahoning Valley with sites planned in Warren, Liberty, Youngstown, Boardman and Salem.

Already, ModWash, affiliated with Hutton — a Chattanooga, Tenn.-based commercial real estate development firm that has developed Family Dollar stores in Warren and Cortland — has located property in Liberty and Boardman for the car washes.

Transfers posted with the Trumbull County and Mahoning County auditor’s offices show Hutton Youngstown Belmont OH ST LLC purchased 3850 Belmont Ave., Liberty, for $500,000 in March from VT Varney LTD.

It is the site of the former West Fork Steakhouse.

Also in March, Hutton Boardman Poland OH ST LLC bought property at 750 Boardman Poland Road, Boardman, for $975,000 from the John L. Mayo Family Trust.

The land between Bridgewood and Bristlewood drives has an office building that will be torn down, according to Krista Beniston, director of zoning and development for Boardman. Permits with the township show the building will be 4,526 square feet and is valued at $220,000.

ModWash also has applied for a conditional-use permit for a second site in the township at 1500 Boardman Canfield Road on a lot adjacent to the new Meijer store, Beniston said. An initial permit request in February was denied. A hearing on the reapplication is April 20.

ModWash’s website shows it also plans to open sites in Warren, on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown and in Salem this year. It already is operating in Alabama, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and South Carolina with plans to open in Delaware and Tennessee this year or next.
