STX's Gunpowder Milkshake is gonna bring all the boys to the yard thanks to a killer (literally) female-led cast to be fronted by DOCTOR WHO and JUMANJI alumna Karen Gillan, with GAME OF THRONES villain Lena Headey, Oscar-nominee Angela Bassett, CRAZY RICH ASIANS actress Michelle Yeoh, THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE actress Carla Gugino, Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti and BIG LITTLE LIES breakout Chloe Coleman also set to star.

STXfilms pre-purchased the North American, Latin America and Chinese distribution rights to the star-studded slugfest which tells the story of three generations of female assassins who fight to stop a cycle of violence over the course of one night.

BIG BAD WOLVES filmmaker Navot Papushado will direct in addition to penning the script with Ehud Lavski. The project marks Papushado’s first English language film, with plans to distribute the feature for a wide theatrical release.

Gunpowder Milkshake has found the perfect domestic distributor in STX,” said Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh. “Produced by our good partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman, this ambitious high-octane action film boasts a top-class line up of kick-ass and smart female talent who promise to light up audiences worldwide. Adam Fogelson and the team at STX has delivered time and again in this genre with hits such as Hustlers and more recently The Gentleman. Partnering with them on Gunpowder Milkshake will allow us to scale a first-class campaign firmly positioning our film as an event.”

Oh wow! I mean, what else do I say other than #MakeMineMilkshake? A female-fronted project such as this has been a long time coming, and the cast that they've assembled here already has me very excited. Do you think we'll get to see a more brutal take on Gillan's patented "Dance Fighting" technique when GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE hits theaters? I certainly hope so, though I'm sure that Papushado and company have far more lethal styles in mind when it comes to the above-mentioned ladies kicking ass for this promising project. I say bring it on!
