WEST PEORIA, Ill. — Nothing is better than delicious food, good company, firetruck on a Sunday afternoon.

The Taste of West Peoria gave people in central Illinois a ‘taste’ of all that it has to offer.

“There’s chicken fingers, and tacos, and tamales, and wings, and a lot of really good stuff out here,” said Buddy Raber, the president of Raber Packing Co., who also participated at the event.

The options at the Taste were endless, but you didn’t have to worry too much about picking just one food to eat.

“It’s just the right amount. Just a good little taste and makes you want to try other places too,” West Peoria neighbor Julie McGill.

This year, eight restaurants participated, raising money for the West Peoria Fire Department.

“It’s just great to see everybody come out and support their community, support our fire department,” said McGill.

For it’s second year, the event brought people out to enjoy West Peoria, including family day at the fire department.

“What we wanted to do was kind of bring our community back together because we have an awesome little city here,” Samm Hutchison, the co- coordinator of the event.

Event organizers say they hope to continue the event for years to come, and the people who live here are in support of it.

“It’s just great to have everybody together and be unified,” said McGill.
