Joe Rogan says MMA needs a new scoring system after controversial UFC 195 main event

Robbie Lawler retained his title in what might end up being 2016’s Fight of the Year against Carlos Condit at UFC 195, winning a split decision by a single point on two judges’ scorecards (48-47, 48-47, 47-48) — but many fans and analysts were stunned by the judges’ decision.

Condit said in his postfight interview that he believed he had “three rounds in the bag,” but refused to blame the controversial scoring for his loss, noting that shouldn’t have “left it up to the judges” and won by a stoppage. UFC president Dana White even admitted after the bout that he had the fight scored 3-2 in favor of Condit.

On the morning after the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan wrote on Twitter that the system “badly needs and upgrade.”
