Opioid Trafficking Charges For WV Woman After I-77 Traffic Stop
The 52-year-old woman told officers she was on her way back home to West Virginia. Bottles of methadone were found in her vehicle.
MOORESVILLE, NC — A 52-year-old West Virginia woman ended up in handcuffs and facing multiple drug-trafficking charges this week after a traffic stop along Interstate 77 led to a vehicle search, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
ICSO said deputies made the vehicle stop April 1 around mile marker 60 near Olin based upon traffic violations.
After observing suspicious behaviour of the occupants, including passenger Lisa Renee Edwards of Hansford, West Virginia, the deputies conducted a search of the Dodge vehicle and located unlabeled bottles of powdered and liquid methadone, a synthetic opioid. The items belonged to Edwards, ICSO said.
