Dennis Sanford Richardson, 67, died on Monday, September 30, 2013, at a local hospital. 

Born in Florence, Al., he was a long-time resident of Chattanooga. Dennis served our country in the U.S. Army. He was a paratrooper and a rifle sharpshooter.

Dennis was a nuclear plant operator and supervisor with TVA.  He was a long-time member of North Hamilton Church of Christ and also the Highland Sportsmen’s Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and also to cook.  He loved his wife, Alice, with whom he often camped, and he loved his family and delighted to spend time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Esther Lee James Richardson; brothers, R.L. Richardson of Hattiesburg, Ms., and James Richardson of Killen, Al.; sisters, Patsy Richardson Shumaker and Virginia Richardson, of Florence, Al.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Behel Richardson; sons, Doug and Terry (Melissa) Richardson; grandchildren, Douglas and Lyla Richardson; brother, Dorris Richardson and sisters, Eloise Wright and Helen Jones; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the North Chapel. 

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at North Chapel Chapel with Minister David B. Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
