Matthew Murphy converted a pass from Mike Smith with 1:06 to play as Newton edged Parsippany Regional, 4-3, at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm.

Ryan Lynch scored twice unassisted while Anthony Piccirillo gave Newton a 3-2 lead in the second period.

David Zillinskis also scored two unassisted goals and then assisted on Timothy Coppinger’s goal which knotted the score at 3-3 in the third period.

Parsippany Regional’s goalie, Justin Wellman, “was outstanding” making 58 saves on 62 shots to keep his team close, said Ryan Sevean, Newton’s coach.

“I can’t say enough good things about him," he added.

Parsippany only took 16 shots on goal.

“Near the end of the game, I was a little frustrated thinking we should have put this game away by now with all our shots," Sevean said.

“It was a good game, very clean, only one penalty called,” he said.
