Wesleyan reveals Founders Day speaker

BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan College recently announced that Jason Fiegel (’00), founder and president of Buoyant Technologies Inc. will deliver the 2020 Founders Day keynote address. The 130th Founders Day celebration of the college will be virtual at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at wvwc.edu.

“Jason Fiegel exemplifies the tradition of excellence that is the hallmark of West Virginia Wesleyan,” said Joel Thierstein, president of the college. “He is an innovative leader who has built a successful career and been a great friend and partner to his alma mater.”

“I am honored to speak to the Wesleyan community at this year’s 130th Founders Day and first virtual Founders Day celebration, as the nation and world wrestle with the unique challenges brought on by the global pandemic,” Fiegel said.

Since 1941, the college has celebrated Founders Day, previously known as Bishop’s Day, to mark the role WVWC and its alumni have had on creating positive impact across the spectrum of society. Historically, it has coincided with homecoming weekend. To adhere to public health guidelines, WVWC has moved its Founders Day celebration online.
