Latest Coronavirus Data In PA: 705 Cases, 12 Deaths

HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed 705 additional positive cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 115,714.

Also Wednesday, 12 new deaths were reported, bringing the statewide death toll to 7,244. Of the total deaths, 4,941 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Of the patients who tested positive, 76 percent are confirmed to have recovered. Of the total cases in Pennsylvania, 8,460 have been in health care workers and 19,740 have been residents of long-term and personal care homes.

Here is the current age breakdown of positive cases:

  • 1 percent are ages 0-4
  • 1 percent are ages 5-12
  • 3 percent are ages 13-18
  • 9 percent are ages 19-24
  • 37 percent are ages 25-49
  • Nearly 23 percent are ages 50-64
  • 24 percent are ages 65 or older

The department said it continues to see a significant increases in the number of COVID-19 cases among younger age groups, particularly 19 to 24-year-olds.

The following regions saw significant increases among 19 to 24-year-olds in each month from April to the end of July:

  • SE – Nearly 5 percent of cases in April to approximately 19 percent of cases in July
  • SW – Approximately 5 percent of cases in April to nearly 18 percent of cases in July
  • NE – 6 percent of cases in April to nearly 17 percent of cases in July
  • SC – Approximately 7 percent of cases in April to approximately 14 percent of cases in July
  • NW – Nearly 7 percent of cases in April to nearly 14 percent of cases in July
  • NC – Approximately 7 percent of cases in April to nearly 14 percent of cases in July
