Alabama Adds 875 New Coronavirus Cases; Passes 100,000 Total

MONTGOMERY, AL — For the second straight day, the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed fewer than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19, reporting 875 new cases Wednesday. The state also confirmed 33 COVID-19 deaths Wednesday.

The state has confirmed 18,801 cases of COVID-19 in the last two weeks, showing virus totals slowing in recent weeks.

Alabama has now surpassed 100,000 total cases of COVID-19, and passed 1,800 fatalities from the virus. With Wednesday's report, Alabama has confirmed 100,801 cases of the virus since testing began in March, and confirmed 1,814 deaths.

Alabama has 1,506 patients hospitalized currently for COVID-19.

Montgomery County was the only county that posted more than 100 new cases of the virus Wednesday, and was followed by Jefferson and Mobile counties as the three counties reporting the most new cases.

The counties Wednesday with the most new cases:

• Montgomery County: 130 new cases; 6955 total
• Jefferson County: 96 new cases; 13,463 total
• Mobile County: 90 new cases; 10,671 total
• Tuscaloosa County: 58 new cases; 4,327 total
• Jackson County: 46 new cases; 1,072 total
