Westmoreland County commissioner wants to get residents involved in local government

WESTMORELAND COUNTY — Douglas W. Chew, Westmoreland County Commissioner announced that he will begin to host town halls on a regular basis.

Most of the public meetings now are in the middle of the day, and many people can’t attend.

Chew says he wants to help people understand what’s going on in the county.

“Our County’s public meetings are in the middle of the day, when a large fraction of the public can’t attend. As a former educator, I have a passion for delivering information and helping people understand what is going on. I’m looking forward to starting these and meeting my neighbors,” he said.

Each town hall will start with Commissioner Chew highlighting one aspect of county government, followed by open time for discussion.

Guidelines will be published before the meeting so that all attendees understand what is expected.

The first one is virtual - on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
