Daytime closures of Seventh and Church streets at the railroad tracks in Redlands continue this week as part of Redlands Passenger Rail Project work, though there will be no work on Monday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. The two-week closures started Nov. 5.
The closures last from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority’s suggested detour for northbound Church Street takes drivers west on Central Avenue, north on Ninth Street, and east on East Stuart Avenue. Southbound traffic will take the same streets the opposite way.
For Seventh Street, the northbound detour takes vehicles east on Redlands Boulevard, north on Ninth Street, and west on Stuart. Southbound drivers will go west on Stuart, south on Sixth Street, and west on Redlands Boulevard.
Starting Nov. 18, Sixth and Eureka streets are expected to be closed at the tracks.
There will also be work along the rail line from Mill Street to Orange Show Road, at the Santa Ana River bridge, and at Richardson Street in San Bernardino; and in Redlands at California, Nevada and Orange streets and in the downtown area.
On the west side of Tippecanoe Avenue in San Bernardino crews will work on one of the project’s four stations.
The 9-mile rail project connecting San Bernardino and Redlands is expected to begin operation in early 2022.
