2021 Michigan WR commit Markus Allen has monster first game of senior year

Well, that is some way to start your senior season...

With four good prospects locked in, Michigan has a loaded wide receiver group in its 2021 class. Unfortunately, only one of the four gets to play this fall due to the pandemic. Just one game in, and three-star Markus Allen is already making the most of his opportunities.

Allen, who plays for Northmont High School in Clayton, Ohio, went off in the first game of his senior year last night against Springboro. The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder caught nine passes for 102 yards and three touchdowns, he reported on Twitter. His third touchdown came on fourth-and-19 with nine seconds left in the game to seal the win.

Along with that touchdown, Allen also caught a two-yard touchdown in the third quarter and a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

After catching 51 passes for 1,099 yards and 15 touchdowns last year, Allen is off to a phenomenal start to his senior season. As our own Jon Simmons informed us in this article earlier this week, the state of Ohio has allowed for six regular season games this season due to the pandemic. That said, Allen is currently on pace for 54 receptions for 612 yards and 18 touchdowns. Not too shabby considering the circumstances.

If he keeps putting up stat lines like this, Allen should be due for a bump in the rankings, especially considering not many guys ranked ahead of him are going to play this fall. Many recruiting analysts thought he was underrated when he committed to Michigan back in April, and so far he is proving those people correct.

All in all, I am excited to see how Allen and his teammate, Michigan three-star safety commit Rod Moore, end up performing this fall. If all goes well, both guys should be able to boost their rankings before the 2021 class is all said and done. So far, so good for Allen.

Allen is Michigan’s third-highest ranked receiver in the 2021 class as the No. 453 overall player on the composite.
