WHITEHOUSE, Texas — Kliff Kingsbury, the current head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and longtime coach in Texas, gave one of his tickets to the Super Bowl back to a longtime mentor of Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes leads the Kansas City Chiefs into next week's championship game against the San Francisco 49er's.
Kingsbury gave his allotted tickets to Whitehouse ISD Athletic Director and former head coach Adam Cook.
Coach Cook coached Mahomes throughout his high career, which ended with Mahomes' graduation in 2013. Under Cook, Mahomes threw for 4,600 yards and 50 touchdowns.
Kingsbury was the head coach at Texas Tech when Mahomes graduated and recruited him to the Red Raiders. Under Kingsbury, Mahomes threw for more than 11,000 yards and set to single-game NCAA records.
