Ida Mae Sims Benford, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, June 9, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend and Mrs. Ned Sims, Sr.; husband, Robert B. Benford; daughters, Olivia and Pauline Benford; son, Walter Benford, Sr.; grandson, Morris McKinney, Jr.; sisters, Mattie Chatman, Mozell Johnson, Evelyn Ford, Lillie Mae Black, Arzma Sims; brotehr, Gibson Sims, Sr.
She is survived by her very devoted daughter, Tommie (Morris) McKinney, Hixson, Tn.; devoted son, James (Betty) Benford, Chattanooga; granddaughters, Sharon (Melvin) McKinney-Williams, Nashville, Tn., Sandra Stegall, Paula Benford, Chattanooga, Slyvia Daniels, Baltimore, Md., Robbi Benford, Vicky Brown, Antioch, Tn.; adopted granddaughter, Patricia (Herbert) Gray, Chattanooga; grandsons, Anthony Benford, Ramon Benford, Chattanooga, Michael (Gwen) Benford, Powder Springs, Ga., and Walter Benford, Jr., Ohio; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six sisters, Rosa Lee Lacy, Chattanooga, Julia Pettyjohn, Americus, Ga., Earnestine Terrell, Shirley Carter, Chattanooga, Fredine (George) Jordan, Fairburn, Ga., Mary Frances Blunt, Daly City, Ca.; three brothers, Ned Sims, Jr., Stone Mountain, Ga., James Sims, Memphis, Tn., and Waymon Sims, Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and numerous close friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor, Dr. Ternae Jordan officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.
