Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Wald: I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when I was 18 years old and it changed my entire perspective on life and health. My father was a doctor of nutrition and he took care of me. I'm 52 years old now in perfect health and physical shape, running marathons and weight lifting. My dad and mom inspired natural health in me and I have been pursuing health and health education ever since.

Patch: If you had to sum up your mission to a stranger, what would it be?

Dr. Wald: To help people experience the level of health of their dreams naturally.

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your career?

Dr. Wald: My biggest challenge has been to keep learning and be creative in my efforts to help others get well. Nutritional health information is flooding scientific literature and it is a challenge to keep up. I created a special software called Blood Detective that I have been filling with cutting-edge nutritional research for over 10 years. The program is a tool that I use that helps pinpoint exactly how my patients should eat and what supplements they might need to get their health to the next level. Along with consultation and focused health questionnaires, I prepare well-rounded health plans for all that see me.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Dr. Wald: The most satisfying part of my job is when results happen! I love a challenge and most people find me after they have wasted years trying other nutritionists. I am confident that my organized approach to health solutions can help most people with chronic health issues, mainly because all health issues are either caused directly by nutritional issues (i.e., poor diet) or result in nutritional issues. Most doctors have no real nutrition training and focus mostly on diagnosis, symptoms and medications. My focus is on building health with medications being a last resort.

Patch: How would you say your practice distinguishes itself from others?

Dr. Wald: I am very good at seeing the big picture often connecting the dots in terms of symptoms and laboratory findings. I am also good at listening; most doctors either do not listen, do not care what their patients really think and provide personalized natural solutions. I have 28 years of clinical nutrition experience, provide non-radiation bone density testing, blood interpretation that compares people to "healthy" blood ranges and not merely "normal" as regular doctors do, and provide cooking and shopping education, and personal training.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Dr. Wald: The best advice that I have been given is to focus on what you can control and not what you can't. And persevere!

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Dr. Wald: I travel all across the US lecturing to doctors and practitioners of all types including MDs, DOs, dentists, pharmacists, chiropractors, dietitians and others. I believe education is what distinguishes me from the pack. When I teach an 8 hour seminar on a health topic I often prepare for 1-2 full months, then, I present it to hundreds of practitioners. I hear every relevant question, I learn a ton and become a better doctor.

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Dr. Wald: I offer people a 15 minute opportunity to have a conversation with me about their health, and whether or not I feel that I am the best health care provider for them. They can either email me or call me to set it up.

Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?

Dr. Wald: You can read my blog at IntMedNY.com, which has clips from my radio show and over 50 videos. You can also listen to my radio show, "Ask The Blood Detective," on PRN.fm, to keep in touch and learn about natural health "the Blood Detective way."
