A law enforcement raid on a St. Stephens Church home turned up a man with two criminal warrants for his arrest, cash and drugs, according to the King and Queen Sheriff’s Office.

Shawn Markeith Pitts, 41, last known to be a St. Stephens Church resident, was picked up in the Friday raid with two arrest warrants from Essex County in his name for assault and battery and abduction and kidnapping, according to a King and Queen County Sheriff’s Office news release.

On Friday, sheriff’s office deputies from King and Queen and Essex counties searched a home in the 4800 block of Owens Mill Road for a potential fugitive, later identified as Pitts, and drug activity, the release said.

Deputies found Pitts inside the home and arrested him on the outstanding charges, according to the release. Pitts was transported to the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center where he remained Tuesday without bond.

Deputies performed a second search of a bedroom in the home and discovered large sums of cash and an apparent illegal drug, both were taken as evidence for new criminal charges that are pending against Pitts.
