Traffic stop in Cullman County turns up nearly 3 pounds of weed; 2 jailed on $500,000 bond

A traffic stop in Cullman County led to the seizure of nearly 3 pounds of marijuana.

Alabama State Troopers at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday stopped a 2012 Hyundai Sonata for speeding and improper lane usage on Interstate 65 near mile marker 317, said Trooper Brandon Bailey.

Troopers found evidence to conduct a vehicle search and discovered four glass jars containing 2.9 pounds of marijuana, as well as a digital scale.

The driver, 21-year-old Amia Scott of Chicago, and passenger Chyna Wright, also 21, of Conyers, Ga., were arrested. Both are charged with trafficking in cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were booked into the Cullman County Jail on $500,000 bond each. The investigation is ongoing.
