‘Jeopardy’ host Alex Trebek plans to return in September, despite cancer diagnosis

“Jeopardy” is readying for its summer break, but longtime host Alex Trebek, who is battling pancreatic cancer, said he looks forward to returning to the popular TV game show September.

“I look forward to seeing you once again in September with all kinds of good stuff," he said in a a video filmed on the show’s set on the last day of taping for its current season. “Despite what you may have heard, I’m feeling good, I’m continuing with my therapy and we...(are) already working on our next season, the 36th year of ‘Jeopardy.’”

Last month, Trebek revealed was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

The five-year survival rate for that type of cancer is 9 percent, according to the American Cancer Society.

“With the love and support of family and friends and with the help of your prayers also," Trebek said last month. "I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics of this disease.”
