Televised debates feature candidates for legislative districts that include Douglas County

Here’s a chance for Douglas County voters to learn more about the candidates who want to represent them in the Minnesota Legislature.

Pioneer PBS TV will host debates on Thursday, Oct. 8 featuring the District 8 Senate race and the House District 8B election.

At 8 p.m., House District 8B Representative Mary Franson, R-Alexandria will debate challenger Carol Wenner, DFL-Alexandria.

At 9 p.m., Minnesota Senate District 8 incumbent Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, and challenger Michele Anderson, DFL-Fergus Falls will respond to viewer’s questions.

These debates will be broadcast live from Pioneer PBS’s studio in Granite Falls.

Viewers will be able to livestream the debate at video.pioneer.org/livestream . The debate will also be carried over the Pioneer PBS broadcast network, over Dish Network and DirecTV and through YouTube TV.

Viewers are encouraged to call (1-800-726-3178), tweet ( @PioneerPBS ) or email (yourtv@pioneer.org) questions to the candidates during the debates.

The debates will be available for online viewing on Friday, Oct. 9 by noon on www.pioneer.org/meetthecandidates .

The Pioneer PBS broadcast network also has previously recorded debates between the candidates for House District 12A and 12B, which include parts of Douglas County. The 12A candidates are incumbent Jeff Backer, R-Browns Valley, and challenger Murray Smart, DFL-Beardsley, and the District 12B contenders are incumbent Paul Anderson, R-Starbuck, and Ben Schirmers, DFL-Sauk Centre.
