Winter storm warning issued for Grand Forks area

The warning will go into effect at 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, for northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, and will remain in place until 1 p.m. Friday, April 3.

The National Weather Service issued an urgent winter storm warning for northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. The warning will remain in effect until 1 p.m. Friday, April 3.

Impacted areas are expected to receive 4 to 6 inches of snow with ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch and winds gusting up to 35 mph could cause blowing and drifting snow in open areas into Thursday night.

Travel will be extremely hazardous. If travel is necessary, the warning urges travelers to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in the vehicle in case of emergency.
