USMNT's Josh Sargent assists Werder Bremen's opening goal at Schalke 04

Josh Sargent - back-to-goal play - Werder Bremen

US men's national team striker Josh Sargent picked up his first assist of the new Bundesliga season on Saturday when he won the header leading to Niclas Fullkrug's opening goal in Werder Bremen's match away to Schalke 04.

Off a corner kick, Sargent won an aerial battle near the penalty spot and drove his header down inside the 6-yard box, where Fullkrug snapped a first-time effort past Ralf Fahrmann. Fullkrug would go on to score a hat trick in a 3-1 Bremen victory.

Sargent has started all three of Bremen's matches across all competitions in the new season. He scored for Bremen in their 2-0 Cup win over Carl Zeiss Jena back on Sept. 12.
