Ten more COVID-19 deaths in county

Sep. 16—CORRECTION — The story in the Sept. 9 edition mistakenly noted that Texas Health Hospital in Rockwall had opened the antibody infusion center, which was incorrect. The center is being operated by Rockwall County.

Deaths in Rockwall County attributed to COVID-19 was reported have spiked once again, along with the numbers of active cases of the virus, as the county has recorded more than 15,000 cumulative cases.

On a positive note, the past week also saw a significant increase in the numbers of people who have recovered from COVID-19.

Rockwall County continues to operate an antibody infusion center to help treat the county's residents.

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that as of Tuesday morning Rockwall County had 12,114 cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of 540 cases when compared to one week earlier, with 3,308 probable cases, 164 more in one week.

The county had 185 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19, 10 more than one week earlier and an increase of 17 deaths in two weeks.

The statistics were reported on the evening of Monday, Sept. 13.

The county had 14,892 estimated recoveries of the virus, 595 more than a week earlier. There were 483 active cases of the virus reported in Rockwall County Tuesday morning, 109 more than on Sept. 7.

The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E, a 19-county region of North Texas, which includes Rockwall County, reported 3,555 patients were in hospital beds with COVID-19 as of Monday, which accounted for 27.21% of the 13,065 patients hospitalized due to the virus across Texas.

The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E reported that as of Sunday, 22.19% of all hospitalized patients in the region were due to COVID-19.

On Sept. 6, Rockwall County opened a monoclonal antibody infusion center to treat patients who have received a positive test for COVID-19.

The treatment is free and is being performed at a tent outside of the Rockwall County Courthouse, 1111 E. Yellow Jacket Lane. The infusions of the drug Rengeron are for patients who are within the first 10 days of showing symptoms

Walk-ins are available at the tent or individuals can register for an appointment at mdlabtx.com. Rockwall County residents will get priority if slots are limited.
