Nashua lawmaker served four terms in Senate, five terms in House

Former four-term state Sen. Betty Lasky of Nashua joined six current senators Wednesday in backing Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes for governor.“No one works harder on the issues we all care about than Dan,” Lasky said. “I’m thrilled he’s running for governor and excited to support him.“Whether it’s independent redistricting, voting rights or commonsense gun safety measures like background checks, Dan’s been there. As governor, I know Dan will work hard every day fighting for equality, fairness, and justice.”In addition to six state senators, Lasky joins more than 75 state House members, the Teamsters Local 633 and the Carpenters Union in backing Feltes. Lasky served in the Legislature for nearly two decades. She was elected to the House in 1998 and was reelected four times. In 2008, she was elected to her first term in the Senate. She was elected again in 2012 and then reelected in 2014 and 2016. She decided to not to seek reelection in 2018.Lasky represented Senate District 13, includes Nashua Wards 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9.Feltes said he was honored to have her endorsement.Previously, Feltes was backed by Sens. Martha Hennessey of Hanover, David Watters of Dover, Melanie Levesque of Brookline, Shannon Chandley of Amherst and Tom Sherman of Rye.He is the only formally declared Democratic candidate for governor, although Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky has formed an exploratory committee and former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand is also considering running.Republican Gov. Chris Sununu is seeking a third term.

LASKY BACKS FELTES. Former four-term state Sen. Betty Lasky of Nashua joined six current senators Wednesday in backing Senate Majority Leader Dan Feltes for governor.
