Rod Rollins went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, surrounded by his family.

He was a 1970 graduate of Red Bank High School and dedicated his life to serving others, first as a police officer with the city of Red Bank and then for 37 years as patrolman and detective with the Hamilton County Sherriff’s Department.

Rod was a gentle giant of a man, who treated everyone with kindness and respect.  He had an easy-going disposition, was an avid outdoorsman, and especially loved deer hunting.  More than anything, he cherished every moment spent with his wife, daughter and grandchildren.

Rod is preceded in death by his father, Harry Rollins, and his brother, Dan Rollins.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Debbie Barnette Rollins; her parents, Lester and Pug Barnette; her brother Steve (Lora) Barnette; his daughter, Brandy (Doug) Biederman; grandchildren: Will, Brianna, Brylee Kate, and Jax, all of whom called him, Big Daddy; mother, Lavera Rollins, and  siblings, Rick and Brian Rollins and Marsha Anderson, and special nephew and niece Drew and Samantha Barnette.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 2, at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Mack Louallen officiating.  Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4–7 p.m. on Sunday at Hamilton Funeral Home and from 11 a.m.– 1 p.m. on Monday at White Oak Baptist Church.
