The sophomore midfielder on the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team was named to the USCAA All-Academic team.

MEDIA, PA — Red Bank Regional graduate Rachel Weir has received national recognition for her academics as a member of the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team.

Weir, a sophomore, was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's National Academic Team, for achieving a grade-point average of at least 3.50 and reaching sophomore status, the USCAA said.

Weir, a midfielder on the Lions' soccer team, also earned her second-straight first-team all Penn State University Athletic Conference honor. She scored two goals and had five assists this season as Penn State Brandywine (10-2-2) captured its second straight PSUAC championship and made its second-straight trip to the USCAA National Championships in Brandywine's third year as a varsity program. The Lions came away from the pool play at the national championships with a tie and a loss.
