Winter Walk

The citywide Winter Walk and Senior Resource Fair has arrived. The free, Hawaiian-themed event—which includes giveaways, raffle prizes and live entertainment—takes place Feb. 21, 8-10 a.m. at the Westfield Oakridge Macy’s Court, located at 925 Blossom Hill Road. For extra raffle tickets, participants can bring any used eyeglasses or hearing aids to the Lion’s table at the event.

Cop boot camp

Throughout March, the San Jose Police Department will host eight sessions of a Women’s Boot Camp for women interested in law enforcement. The boot camp will prepare women in the classroom, as well as in the gym. The free workshop will give participants a glimpse into what it’s like at the police academy. New city website

The City of San Jose’s new website launched earlier this month, and the reimagined site aims to be more accessible to residents with disabilities and those who speak languages other than English. The website is also now compatible with mobile versions, meaning residents can use it on their cell phones or tablets, and it also makes it easier to find city services, like building permits and bulk trash pickups. Teachers wanted

San Jose Unified School District is looking for teachers qualified in math, physics, chemistry, Spanish and special education. WILLOW GLEN>>The San Jose Elks Lodge is hosting its 35th annual charity fashion show and lunch Feb. 29. Tickets—which must be purchased in advance—are $35 each, and funds from the event will go toward hiring traveling therapists and vision screeners for children with disabilities, as part of the group’s California-Hawaii Elks Major Projects initiative. The event will take place at San Jose Elks Lodge No. 522, 444 W. Alma Ave. Doors will open at 10 a.m., lunch will be served at noon and the fashion show will begin at 1 p.m. For tickets, call 408-298-3880.
