Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player Cordell Pemsl cited for operating while intoxicated

Iowa men's basketball player Cordell Pemsl has been suspended from all basketball-related activities after being arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.

The university made the announcement on Friday morning.

Pemsl, a redshirt junior, was arrested by law enforcement early Friday morning in Iowa City.

The university's athletics department officials are in the process of gathering facts about the incident, a news release stated. Pemsl will be suspended from all basketball-related activities indefinitely. The release also said Pemsel is subject to the rules and regulations of the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct and the rules and regulations of the basketball program.

Pemsl, a native of Dubuque, has played in 67 career games, averaging 7.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
