Suspect wanted in deadly shooting arrested after two-day manhunt

Investigators say Bryan Duhon was wanted for a Thursday morning homicide in Tyler County

SPURGER, Texas — Bryan Duhon, the man at the center of a two-day manhunt, has been arrested, a Tyler County Sheriff's deputy told 12News.

Duhon was found in Gum Slough, an area between Buna and Evadale, Evadale Fire Dept. Chief Stevie Conner told 12News. This is near the area deputies were searching most of the day on Thursday.

Duhon was wanted for a deadly double shooting that happened Thursday morning in Tyler County.

James Allen Clark Jr., 60, of Jasper, was killed and Damon Mitchell Odom, 50, of Jasper was wounded. Odom is in a Beaumont hospital.

Duhon's vehicle was located Thursday afternoon in a wooded area off of FM 2246 in southern Jasper County, according to Sheriff Weatherford.

Jasper County deputies, Texas Rangers, Texas DPS troopers, Calcasieu Parish law enforcement and DPS air helicopters assisted in the search Thursday.

During the search along FM 2246, students at Evadale ISD were put on a precautionary lockdown.

All exterior doors of the schools are locked down and students at lunch and in the gym were brought into the main school building as a precaution.

School was in session Friday morning, but extra deputies were at the schools.

Sheriff Weatherford says the homicide in Spurger was not random and that the suspect knew the victims.  Another man was also shot but survived. He was rushed to a local hospital.

Duhon is being held on bonds totaling $2 million. Justice of the Peace Ken Jobe set a $1 million dollar bond for each charge, murder and attempted murder Saturday morning, Nov. 23.

As of Saturday morning, Duhon is still in the Tyler County Jail, Weatherford said in a news release.
