TL;DR:

  • What It Is: A 12-shade eye shadow palette with Amazonian clay-infused micro-shimmer and matte shades in neutral tones
  • What It Does: Complements all makeup and adds major dimension to your eyes
  • Who It's For: Anyone who wants a versatile, everyday neutral eye palette

I think we can all agree that Tarte makes some great makeup and best of all, it's cruelty-free. And if eye shadows happen to be the favorite part of your makeup routine — like they are for me (oh, the possibilities they hold!) — then you have to get into this Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Clay Eye Shadow Palette. This is the classic neutrals palette that supermodel Natasha Poly used when she did her own makeup for the 2017 Met Gala. These 12 micro-shimmer and matte shades basically guarantee a killer smoky eye.

Not only do they apply and blend seamlessly, but each shade is infused with Amazonian clay for longer wear and it prevents smudging. Here are all 12 shades swatched for your viewing pleasure:

And this is the look I created (below), simple but glam, and it took me around seven minutes. On lazier days, I'll pop on just one or two shades and call it a day. That's the beauty of this palette. You can easily dress your looks up or down.

I used a fluffy eye brush to sweep Funny Girl (shimmering champagne) all over my lids, a flatter but still fluffy crease brush to work Smarty Pants (matte tan) and then Rebel (matte chestnut brown) into my creases for definition, and a transitional shade, Firecracker (shimmering copper bronze), as the star of the show,  which I plopped onto the outer half of both lids with another fluffy brush.

After blending all the previous shades together with a clean brush, I topped it with some Charmer (matte off-white) to highlight my brow bones and accentuate my shaped and filled-in brows, and finally Leader (matte deep brown) as eyeliner, which I applied with an angled eye brush.

The best part about this palette is that the shadows don't come off until you're ready to take them off. After wearing them all day, I saw no smudging (which typically shows up along my lower lashline) or weird creasing, and the colors looked just as pigmented and sharp as they did when they were first applied. And that, my friends, deserves a major brava.

Tarte is no stranger to winning Readers' Choice Awards. Top this palette off with a few other winners, like the Shape Tape Contour Concealer and Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara, along with your favorite red lip and you've got a look that appears to have taken more effort and time than it actually did.
