Over 16K New Coronavirus Tests Reported In 24 Hours: MA DPH

A total of 1,294,206 people in Massachusetts have been tested for coronavirus.

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced that over 16,000 new tests for the coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people tested in the state to 1,294,206.

The MA DPH also reported 320 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 12 new deaths. The Commonwealth's total number of confirmed cases is 112,173 and the total number of deaths is 8,500. State health officials also reported 100 new probable cases for a total of 8,538 probable cases.

Massachusetts had 386 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 as of Saturday and 68 people in intensive care.

Governor Charlie Baker announced on Friday the state would slow it's phased reopening plan and implement enforcement protocol. The next part of phase three of the state's reopening was indefinitely postponed, limits on outdoor gatherings will be cut in half, police are authorized to enforce public health orders and restaurants can only sell alcohol along with food.
