Pa. reports 277 additional COVID-19 cases, 15 new deaths: COVID-19 daily updates

The state department of health has reported an additional 277 positive cases of COVID-19.

The report confirmed the additional cases as of 12 a.m. on June 17, which brings the statewide total of confirmed cases to 1,209,725 since the coronavirus pandemic spread to Pennsylvania.

The report also confirmed that 15 new deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19 complications since Wednesday. Those deaths brings the total number of Pennsylvanians killed by COVID-19 to 27,546.

Currently there are 465 patients hospitalized statewide due to COVID-19, with 114 in intensive care. Most of the people hospitalized, as well as most of the deaths, occurred in patients 65 years old or older.

The 14 day average of hospitalizations continues to drop, and the statewide percent positivity for the week of June 4-June 10 was 1.9 percent. And over 11.3 million vaccinations have been issued so far across Pennsylvania, with 57.8 percent of Pennsylvanians ages 18 and up fully vaccinated.
