American Airlines boots passengers for flouting mask rules

American Airlines booted a group of passengers from a flight for not complying with its mask policy, the airline said Wednesday.

The group was booked on Flight 1214 from Salt Lake City to Dallas on Sunday, but were told to deplane because of the issue with some of their face coverings.

American Airlines said the passengers violated its policy, “which requires face coverings be worn properly over the nose and mouth.”

“American, like other U.S. airlines, began requiring customers to wear a face covering while on board aircraft beginning May 11. We have since strengthened our policy to require face coverings be worn at airports and on board, and announced in June that we may deny future travel for customers who refuse to wear a face covering for the duration of this requirement.” a spokesperson told FOX 13.

The passengers eventually agreed to properly cover their faces, and were allowed to take a different flight to Dallas, the airline said.
