DECATUR -- Carol Josephine Blankenship, 94, of Decatur, IL, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, in her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, May 13, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Carol was born December 25, 1924, in rural Saunemin IL, daughter of Albert H. and Carrie J. (Peck) Sancken. She married Harold J. Blankenship May 5, 1946, in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death September 1, 2012.
Carol graduated from Barry-Castle School of Business in Champaign, IL and worked as a secretary, retiring from Equitable Life. After her retirement she graduated from Richland Community College. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Carol loved to travel and was privileged to do a great deal of foreign travel through the years with her husband.
Surviving are her children: Patricia Kay Isenberg of Baton Rouge, LA and Curtis James Blankenship of Mt. Zion; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Lois Carlyle of Mattoon and Esther Gregory of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven brothers and three sisters.
