Raptors blank Plainville

May 4—PLAINVILLE — Hadley Marchand fired a 2- hitter with 18 strikeouts as RHAM High rolled to a 16-0 Central Connecticut Conference inter- division softball victory over Plainville on Monday night.

Linnea Carlson went 4- for-5 with two RBI and scored two runs, Jordyn Fitch had two hits with two runs scored and added three RBI, Natalie Assunto (3 hits, 2 runs) tripled, Rebecca Eaton ( 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBI) belted a 2-run home run in an 8-run top of the fourth inning and Taylor Fitch added two hits, three RBI and scored two runs as the Raptors ( 6- 1) won their sixth consecutive game while out- scoring their opponents 62-7.

In Danielson, Analise Escarraman struck out seven in lifting Windham to a 22-4 non- league victory in five innings over Ellis Tech.

Alyssa Lebiszczak went 2- for- 2, walked three times and scored five runs as the Whips (4-1) jumped out to a 14-0 lead after two innings. Katrina Mateo also had two hits for Windham.

In Manchester, Freshman Sophia Martin ( 5 hits) tripled and homered to help lift Windham Tech ( 5- 3 overall, 5-1 league) in a 25-11 Connecticut Technical Conference victory over Cheney Tech.

In Bristol, Anna Fiore (2 hits, 3 runs) homered for E.O. Smith in a 10-6 CCC inter-division loss to Bristol Eastern.

Jenna Moore had a pair of doubles for the Panthers (4-5).

BASEBALL

Mike Poncini struck out eight in four inning and also drove in two runs as RHAM snapped a 3-game losing streak with a 7-1 CCC inter-division victory over Lewis Mills in Hebron.

Dan Orzech had a pair of doubles and had two RBI for the Raptors (5-4), who broke things open with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 7-0 lead.

In Hartford, Tyler Tashea went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and stole three bases as Windham Tech rolled to a 27-1 CTC victory in five innings over Prince Tech.

Trey Lindsey added two hits and scored twice, Hank Job and Devin Grover each doubled and winning pitcher Danny Meikle struck out seven for the Mighty Tigers (5-6).

In Chaplin, Caleb Claudio and Raul Mojica combined to strike out 11 batters and allow just one hit as Civic Leadership blanked Parish Hill, 13-0, in a CRAL game ended after five innings by the 10-run rule.

Joseph Landolphi singled with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Pirates (3-5 overall, 3-1 league).

Justin Oquendo had two hits, scored three runs and added two RBI for the Eagles (3-3, 2-0), who took advantage of nine walks.

GIRLS TENNIS

Grace Baran and Addison Brown won at No. 1 doubles (6-2, 4-6, 10-8) and Kiley Stanford and Sofia Orama were victorious at No. 3 doubles for RHAM (1-6) in a 5-2 CCC inter-division loss at Rocky Hill (5-2).

In Windsor, Maddie Silverstein (6-1, 6-1) won at No. 1 singles as E.O. Smith (0-6) dropped a 5-1 CCC inter-division decision to Windsor (3-5).

SATURDAY'S RESULTS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD Leah Comeroski finished first in the 100 (13.7) and long jump (14-8) as Lyman Memorial edged Bacon Academy, 71-69, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference meet at the John D. Long Athletic Complex.

Kate Anderson (400, 1:05.7), Jessica Casey (3,200 in 12:30.4), Kristen Goodrich (triple jump, 31-0.5), Morgan Tartgalia (discus, 69-9.5) and Gabi Dinisoe (200, 28.9) all won individual events for the Bulldogs (3-1).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

Justin Thoutte was a double-event winner, finishing first in the high jump (5-8) and triple jump (39-1.5) for Lyman Memorial in a 100-49 ECC loss to Bacon Academy. Grayson Lemay won the 800 (2:14.3) and joined Maxwell Hussey, Gregory Toussaint and Eamon McMahon to win the 4x400 meter relay (3:50) for the Bulldogs (2-2).
