(SLPSO)-  Two suspects have been arrested following a counterfeit investigation in St. Landry Parish. 

“On May 3, 2019, St Landry Parish Detectives received information that Creig Jacquneaux who is known for counterfeiting money was hiding out at a local motel in Opelousas,” Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said. “Jacquneaux was wanted by Lafayette parish on Felony warrants.”

Dectectives arrested Jacquneaux and Heather Martin, on warrents for Lafayette. 

Upon entering the room, detectives observed in plain view a laptop computer, a printer, Vitality multipurpose paper which is used in the process of making fraudulent checks/counterfeiting, and drug paraphernalia, Guidroz said.

Detectives reportedly recovered four counterfeit-one hundred dollar bills, blank white paper containing the markings of a blank check, four altered checks payable to Jacquneaux for various amounts, several schedule I, II, and IV pills along with two small bags of marijuana.

Jacquneaux was also reportedly in possession of several fake credit cards containing different names as well as two fake State of Louisiana identification cards, and a fake conceal and carry firearm permit. Detectives also recovered methamphetamine in a suitcase. 

During the interview of Jacquneaux, he reportedly admitted to the possession of the items used to counterfeit monetary instruments, counterfeiting of checks and money as well as the State of Louisiana identification cards and the methamphetamine.

Jacquneaux ended his statement by saying he uses the counterfeiting to “support his drug habit.”

Jacquneaux was arrested and booked into the parish jail and a detainer was placed on him for Lafayette Parish. Martin was issued a misdemeanor citation for unlawful possession of fraudulent documents for identifications purpose. 

 Jacquneaux, an Arnaudville resident  was charged with the following: 

  • 1 Count- Monetary Instrument Abuse (Felony)
  • 1 Count- Unlawful Production Manufacturing, 
  • Distribution and Possession of Fraudulent Documents 
  • for Identification purpose (Felony)
  • 1 Count-Possession of Schedule I (Misdemeanor)
  • 1 Count-Possession of Schedule II (Felony)
  • 1 Count-Possession of Schedule IV (Felony)
  • 1 Count-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
