GREENWICH, N.Y. — State Police arrested two men following a response for an order of protection, Wednesday -- and one of them reportedly tried to bribe officers not to arrest him.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, troopers responded to a Greenwich residence after a protected party called to say Geoffrey M. Pickering, 30, of Queensbury, was present in violation of a full stay-away order of protection. While traveling to the location of the complaint, troopers saw Pickering in a vehicle leaving the area, and stopped the vehicle. According to State Police Pickering, who was the passenger, made multiple offers of money to the trooper not to arrest him.
State Police said the driver of the vehicle, Christopher R. Luce, 48, of Hudson Falls, exhibited signs of intoxication and was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license, as well as being in possession of a quantity of LSD.
Both men were taken to the Greenwich Barracks, where Luce provided a breath sample of .22 BAC. he was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree (E felony), Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor). and released on an appearance ticket for Cambridge Town Court in June.
Pickering was charged with with Bribery 3rd degree (D felony) and Criminal Contempt 1st degree (E felony), and was transported to Washington County Jail to await arraignment.
