Richard C. McWilliams Sr. -- Rochester

A funeral service will be held in honor of Richard Cullen McWilliams Sr. at 4 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Carlton Grace Brethren Church in Garwin, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will be in the Dobson Cemetery.

Richard was born Jan. 21, 1923, in South St. Paul, to Cullen and Louise McWilliams. He was married to Norma Thurston McWilliams on June 19, 1949.

He had a Horticultural Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Landscape Architecture Degree from Iowa State University. He performed his duties as a weatherman and a pilot in WWII. Richard worked with the Corp of Engineers for many years in Omaha, Neb.

Richard enjoyed gardening and many times gave tours of his backyard flower gardens. Richard and his wife, Norma, moved to Rochester, after retirement from Omaha, Neb. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Rochester for many years.

Richard is survived by five children, Richard (Nita) McWilliams Jr., Eileen (Steve) McClure, James (Karen) McWilliams, Jolene (Kevin) Birkett, and Norene McWilliams; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
