Rogers Park man charged with Magnificent Mile looting

A Rogers Park man was arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple felony counts in connection with widespread looting on the Magnificent Mile on Aug. 10, according to Chicago police.

Victor Doss, 26, of the 7600 Block of North Bosworth Avenue, is charged with three felony counts of looting and three felony counts of burglary, police said. He will appear in Central Bond Court on Saturday.

Police said investigators identified Doss as one of the individuals who entered a store in the 900 block of North Michigan Avenue and took merchandise.

He was arrested around 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Howard Street.

Hundreds of people swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago after Chicago police officers shot and injured Latrell Allen, 20, in Englewood hours earlier on Aug. 9. Police said Allen fired shots at officers chasing him on a block not far from Allen’s address.

The August incidents marked the second time this year the Central Business District was the target of looting, following unrest in May after the killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis.
