President Trump yesterday demanded an immediate ceasefire in Syria with a threat of sweeping sanctions during a phone call with President Erdogan.

Mr Trump doubled tariffs on steel and ended trade talks, while warning that personal travel and economic sanctions would be slapped on those responsible for “the obstruction, disruption, or prevention of a ceasefire in northern Syria”.
