Tenet Health to operate Community of Caring Hospital, fourth hospital in St. Lucie County
PORT ST. LUCIE — Tenet Health is expected to manage the new 54-bed hospital planned near Becker Road and Florida's Turnpike.
Community of Caring Hospital would be the fourth hospital in St. Lucie County and the third in Port St. Lucie. It could open by the end of 2024.
The Dallas based for-profit company has surgery centers in Vero Beach, Port St. Lucie, Jensen Beach and Stuart, but this would be its first hospital on the Treasure Coast.
It would be about 8 miles from HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, 9 miles from Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital and 20 miles from HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.

The City Council approved the hospital site plan Monday.
The 181,000-square-foot facility would have 30 general-purpose care rooms, 24 critical-care units , a helicopter landing pad, 24-hour emergency room, labs and a 60,000-sqaure-foot medical office building for administrative purposes and postoperative appointments, according to developers.
Surgical services such as orthopedics, spine, robotics, general surgery, and advanced cardiac care aalso will be offered to patients, accord to a Tenet news release.
Patients also will have access to outpatient surgical services with affiliated ambulatory surgery centers through the Palm Beach Health Network’s relationship with United Surgical Partners International, according to the healthcare organization.
The hospital is part of Tenet's newly developed Florida Coast Health Network, a sister health care entity to the company's Palm Beach Health Network.
“Currently, many Martin and St. Lucie County residents travel south to seek advanced health care services,” Maggie Gill, Palm Beach Health Network chief executive officer, said in the news release. “With the future opening of the Florida Coast Health Network, we will be able to create a stronger health care infrastructure with high-quality care for the Treasure Coast community.”
The Palm Beach Health Network is the largest health care network in Palm Beach County and includes Delray Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center and West Boca Medical Center.
It's planned as part of the St. Lucie Lands planned unit development, also known as Veranda Falls.
The 96-acre project also includes a 120-room hotel, up to 581 residential units and shopping.
So far, about 100,000 square feet of the Veranda Falls Shopping Center has been built; about 120,000 square feet in the Veranda Falls Storage Facility; and about 230 townhomes are under construction, Dennis Murphy, planner with civil engineering firm Culpepper & Terpening, told City Council Monday.
The hospital, which is expected to employ about 500 people, could be built in the late summer or fall and completed by the fourth quarter of 2024, officials said.
