He told deputies that he was on his way home from his birthday party in Stockdale when he struck the man Sunday night on Priest Road in Southeast Bexar County, deputies said. Mosmeyer’s birthday was Monday.

The man, identified as 49-year-old Shane Fewell, was parked on the side of the road and had retrieved a gas can from a utility trailer when he was struck.

The affidavit states that Mosmeyer saw the man’s SUV and trailer and attempted to move over when he saw Fewell jump or fall.

Mosmeyer told deputies that he stopped, got out of the vehicle and saw the man was unresponsive, the affidavit states. He said he attempted to call 911 but had no signal and attempted to flag down a passing car but they didn’t stop, according to the affidavit.

He said he panicked and left to go home, investigators said. When asked why he didn’t go to a gas station to call for help, he said he “freaked out” and couldn’t think clearly, the affidavit states.

A couple traveling on Priest Road called 911 just before 11 p.m. Sunday to report the accident. Upon arrival, deputies saw a right side mirror, an antenna, mirror parts and skid marks on the road.

The car parts revealed the suspect vehicle was a 1999-2004 Chevrolet Blazer or GMC Jimmy.

A vehicle that matched the description was found on Wednesday at a home in Elmendorf, where deputies made contact with Mosmeyer, the homeowner.

Deputies said Mosmeyer’s vehicle had damage consistent with a pedestrian crash.

Mosmeyer told deputies that he attempted to repair the vehicle and went to a parts store to inquire about replacing a mirror, investigators said.

“At some point, Mr. Mosmeyer removed the remaining mirror from his vehicle and disposed of it, in doing so he concealed evidence of his crime,” the affidavit states.

Mosmeyer was arrested Wednesday evening, records show. His bond is set at $110,000.
