The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office is reviewing armed robbery cases in Naperville for possible additional charges against a Wheaton man arrested in connection with a string of Aurora hold-ups, Naperville police Cmdr. Michaus Williams said.

Gregory Lee Garner, 27, was arrested Friday in Aurora and charged with felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm, felon in possession or use of a fire and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon stemming from five incidents in the city in February and March, Aurora police said in a news release.

Although Williams did not disclose which Naperville robberies might be linked to Garner, he did say via email that prosecutors were viewing the information they had and would decide if charges will be filed.

In the release on Garner’s arrest, Aurora police said “detectives learned that there had been other armed robberies in Marengo, Downers Grove and Naperville. In each of those robberies, at least one of the suspects matched the description of the suspects in the armed robberies in Aurora.

“Detectives from these agencies worked together to identify and build a case against the suspect,” the release said.

The robberies for which Garner has been charged occurred between Feb. 22 and March 8. In three of the five cases, the same liquor story on South Broadway Street was robbed. The other two were convenience stores, the release said.

Garner, of the 200 block of East Union Avenue, is being held in the Kane County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
