Should king cake be the buns to a burger? Decide for yourself starting Feb. 1 at all six Burgersmith locations

Sweet and savory combos are my favorite so I'll be the first in line to try the Mardi Gras Mambo Burger.

Starting Feb. 1 through Feb. 16, Mardi Gras Day, Burgersmith's carnival creation will be available for dine-in and take-out at all six locations.

Last year, Burgersmith dropped Mardi Gras Mambo Burger — starting off with Burgersmith’s signature beef patty, melted cheddar cheese and bacon sandwiched between two slices of Calandro’s Supermarket’s traditional cinnamon king cake, complete with icing, sprinkles and a king cake baby on top. The innovation was created by Jay Ducote and Charles "Chuck P" Pierce.

The Louisiana-based restaurant decided to bring the king cake burger back.

"I think we’re all missing our Mardi Gras traditions this year, so we wanted a safe way for customers to keep the celebration going," Burgersmith vice president of operations Russ Umbricht said. "That’s why we’re excited to bring back the Mardi Gras Mambo Burger."

"It’s part tradition, part nostalgia and a whole lot of deliciousness — after all, isn’t that what Mardi Gras is all about?" Ducote said.
