ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- When it was all said and done, Mid-Island’s fearsome bats and electric pitching outclassed the competition en route to claiming the New York State title.
After concluding pool play with a perfect 4-0 record (outscoring opponents 47-4 along the way), MILL locked up the NYS tournament with two more final triumphs on Sunday -- a 13-3, five-inning mercy win over Bellmore in the semis before capturing the crown via a 5-2 victory over Pine Bush in the final. With no regional play this year, that puts a bow on a sensational season for the Staten Island squad.
