FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. — A Franklin County family is overjoyed to welcome a new baby.

But their first-born child wasn't so thrilled when the baby's gender was revealed.

Katie and Mark Scopa never imagined their family video, and their daughter's reaction, would get so much attention.

They served 3-year-old Isabella a cupcake, colored inside to indicate that she is getting a baby brother.

It was a result that thrilled Mark Scopa. "A father always needs a son," he said.

Isabella, though, was immediately inconsolable, shrieking in tears while her parents celebrated.

Katie Scopa says, despite what some may think, her little girl's tears had nothing to do with not wanting a brother.

"Big occasions – she tends to freak out about – so it wasn't anything out of the norm. She's a toddler. "
